Terminology
Perhaps the hardest part of understanding technology is the use of acronyms and terminology that many people are not familiar with. So we have compiled a handy list of terms to know.

Computer Case or Case - This is the part of the computer that houses all the components and that all the cables plug into.
Monitor - A display screen used to present output from a computer, video camera, VCR or other video generator.
Mouse - The most popular pointing device. It was called a "mouse" because it more or less resembled one, with the cord being the tail. On a PC, the mouse connects to the PS/2, USB or serial port.
Keyboard - A set of input keys on a terminal or computer. It includes the standard typewriter keys, several specialized keys and the features outlined below.
USB drive or Thumb Drive - Is a flash memory card that plugs into the computer's USB port. They emulate a small disk drive this allows data to be easily transferred from one machine to another. Drivers are not required for the latest operating systems, but might be required for older systems such as Windows 98, Windows NT and Mac OS 8.
Wireless router - Is a network device that combines a wireless access point, a wired LAN switch and a router with connections to a cable or DSL service. Wireless routers provide a convenient way to connect a small number of wired and any number of wireless computers to the Internet. They can also be used to setup a small network to allow for file and print sharing.
WLAN - A Wireless Local Area Network is a series of interconnected pcs that communicate over radio waves as if they were connected with wires.
